Pita family, Medina del Campo, Spain
Winemaker Emílio Pita
Soil Type Sandy clay
Main Varieties Verdejo
A young Bordeaux trained winemaker, Emílio’s belief and evangelism for his Verdejo vines showed us that great whites are possible in Rueda.
The Pita family vineyards 32 hectares just outside Rubi de Bracamonte seem like they stretch and fill the vast horizons this area offers. Shifting the families efforts from growing sugar beet to making wine fell to young Emilio. He began by taking these Verdejo grapes to another winery 50kms away, but the results were rewarded with investment in his project, and he has set a new standard for the Rueda. These are delicately crafted Verdejos (now organically cultivated) with focused freshness and complexity. Wines you just want to keep enjoying.
