Quinta do Vale Meão
QVM-MTF-TT2017-BUK
Grape Varieties Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca
Usually, Quinta do Vale Meão use many grape varieties, grown on 3 different soil types, and create fabulous blends for their main wines. The Monte Meão wines flip this on it's head and showcase individual varieties, grown on one specific soil type, from one specific vineyard plot. These wines are only released when the Vale Meão team deem them to be very special.
The Touriga Franca comes from Casa das Maquinas, one of Vale Meão’s oldest parcels, on schist soils. The parcel is a mix of 70:30 Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca. The winemaking follows Vale Meão's usual high standards, with foot-treading in granite lagares and ageing in, mostly, used barriques for 16 months.
