Jara Rock Rose
Grape Varieties Garnacha
Made in the tiny local co-op Don Juan de Aguilla in the town of El Barraco, but overseen by Daniel, the JARA is a true expression of the local area. Old vine Garnacha is pooled from several vineyard sites in the surrounding hills, on mainly granitic sites.
It's simple winemaking, means fruit and earthy character is retained. The grapes are simply crushed and left to ferment naturally in concrete tanks, and is bottled young.
Jara is the local, Spanish name for the Rock Rose plant which grows wild, and quite prolifically, in this area. It's beautiful flowers and resinous aromatics contribute to the terroir, and character of the Garnacha wines produced here.
